<-- Generative AI Rant

1. In our ultra-capitalistic society, companies will do everything possible to wittle their workforce to the bare minimum. I refuse to contribute to something which will ruin more people's lives in our already-inequal economy (using=contributing).

2. We cannot offload critical thinking to products by companies worth hundreds of billions of dollars (Alphabet aka. Google, OpenAI).

For the short time I used it, it was addictive. This doesn't seem to be a unique experience. This leads me to believe that society is becoming more and more reliant on it.

Companies seeking financial interests + a chunk of the population using it for critical thinking = the rich swaying the world's opinions.

3. "What if I just use it for questions?"

Use Google! You can also use startpage.com instead like I do if you don't want the AI overview to ever pop up.

Look for a set of sources which will let you make up YOUR own mind, rather than letting a fake mind make a conclusion for you.

Google does have its own biases in results, but at least you're able to compare different results and use your logic circuitry to come to a conclusion.

4. "I use it for classes I don't care about in college."

There's a REASON you are required to take those classes. You're also lazy. Don't let your brain decay.

5. "I only use it to throw ideas around and to help make first drafts."

If humans could actually stick to that, that'd be nice; however, my experience with college students has shown that we will tend to take the easiest way out and just throw assignments into cheating machine 4.0.

The study I provided lends credence to this.

Why can't you just talk to people? Get help from a professor or friend. Have a discussion. Yes, there's a loneliness epidemic, but advanced-autocorrect-text generators shouldn't be your way "out" of it.
